-I wanted to reach out and say thank you. This year has been one of the hardest years in my life for me and my family. My son just recently got out of the hospital due to severe depression and my daughter had a serious head injury this year and is now in the process of being diagnosed with possible autism. I work full time but with sickness and emergencies I miss a lot of work because I’m a single mom and my family lives in Delaware. Because of this program my children will have the best Christmas ever. I have cried all day trying to find the words to say how thankful I am and how blessed I feel. I would like to thank BFO for supplying me with a safe place to rest and refocus on what I am doing with my life. I called for assistance and they informed me they had an opening at Jerry’s Place. I don’t want to call it a mens shelter because it is so much more. I have a beautiful home instead of living outside or in a motel, both of what I have done. Everything is provided for me to become the best version of myself. I have started working and am saving for a car. I am also in counseling while I am here, that helps in so many ways. I cannot thank them enough for literally saving my life.

Between friends Outreach has shown myself and my son that there are compassionate people willing to help and to guide you through tough times. COVID 19 combined with a separation made things very complicated and at times hopeless. Wanting nothing but for my son to not have the stress and anxiety I was feeling. Good evening the between the outreach ministry is a blessing to me and my family I live on a fixed income of $714 a month before coming to between friends outreach my household and personal supplies will run out before the month was out. I would like to compliment the staff on their compassion I've never made to feel less than because I need help always the kind word and a kind smile they never watch you they never ask for birth certificates SSI cards some of the ridiculous things that other food banks take you through I'm never watched I'm allowed to shop as much as I need and I only take what I need sometimes it's a lot but it only take what I need between friends outreach has and does set the example of what true outreach is compassion for those who don't have there are a lot of other food banks in the area that can take a lot of lessons from you guys I want to take a personal moment out just to say thank you God bless you and your ministry I'm sorry I keep saying ministry your outreach but it is a ministry God says take care of the poor help the poor and he will bless you. I am truly grateful to be able to use your services you've made my life a lot easier . It's hard on a fixed income where you going to get this where you going to get that right Peter to pay Paul you guys have lessened a lot of stress for me God bless you and your endeavors and thank you

I am writing this to share my experience with BFO Between Friends Outreach . If you don't know them or what they do please look them up.

They are volunteers that assist families and individuals in need.

They are a resource for everything at every stage from families/caregivers who need diapers to the underserved who need housing or have food and financial insecurity .

The bottom line anyone in need!

I have been that family losing a full time job after many years, struggling with supporting grandchildren ages7, 4 and 2 with a 4th on the way in February

The emotional rewards and unconditional love cannot be measured as intangibles cannot be quantified

However there was and is need and thanks to the generous and compassionate efforts if BFO their Christmas will be wonderful.

If you are able to donate to them Please do ,their work is truly amazing and they extend themselves with tireless efforts to give back .

My heartfelt thanks ,gratitude and appreciation goes out to the herculean efforts of Tara and her hard working team of angels.

I hope to one day joining them and pay it forward once able and my situation improves.

We would like to thank you for your food pantry. We appreciate when we come in you ask if we would like to shop. Your wording makes a difference. You also refer to us as “guests”, that makes us feel respected, even with all the financial problems we are experiencing. The fact we are able to shop for our own preferences instead of being handed a bag in a drive thru, after waiting two hours, is tremendous. Thank you to you and all of your food pantry sponsors.

hello i just wanted to thank you and all the people that donated for everything . Being a single mom of 5 due to covid hours were cut ( four with needs and to add one was just recently hospitalized for diabetic ketoacidosis and that he’s type 1 diabetes) i had to miss a lot of work due to him being in chop and now because of his care . i had no idea how i was going to give them a Christmas so this was amazing. Good morning! I was able to sit down last night once the kids were asleep and go through the bags I picked up yesterday and I just wanted to thank you again and thank all the other volunteers and people who sponsored my kids to make it possible for me to give my kids a great Christmas this year. Tara I need to thank you and your organization. It has been one year clean for me and I could not have done this without you. All the times in the beginning all phone calls at crazy times, you were there. If I needed a place, ride, food you were there. You were friendly and tough when you had to be. Thank you BFO for helping our family find an apartment in the area we needed to stay in. You helped with all our school supplies for the kids and supplied the nursery for the baby. We are all set. I don’t know what we would have done without you. -Client

Our family became homeless six months ago and we found ourselves and four children living in a motel room. Between Friends Outreach has helped our family tremendously! They helped us pay for our room if we found ourselves short on cash. We were connected to multiple agencies and people in the community. they helped us with food, diapers, gas and any other needs we had, such as kids’ clothes, etc. This group purchased a family pass to the community pool since the kids couldn’t play outside at the motel. Money was raised to help us purchase a mobile home! They taught us how to budget our money and sustain our family on the income we have. Our vehicle was very old and when it broke down, Between Friends Outreach donated a van to our family! This is an amazing and caring group of people and we thank God everyday for putting them in our lives. We can’t wait to be able to pay it forward. — Client

Merry Merry Christmas! My son just got done opening his gifts and this was the best Christmas EVER! He literally got everything on his list, I am speechless, his face was priceless! There’s a cell number on the clothes and I really wanted to text to thank them! It’s beyond my wildest dreams! I don’t have to worry about winter boots, clothes, a jacket and it’s all his size! He can actually have a warm winter jacket that zippers shut! I’m ecstatic, I can’t say thank you enough! To make a long story short, we bought our home a year ago when we both were working. Due to certain restrictions, we had to remove the oil tank. We couldn’t cook on our stove and had to use kerosene heaters to heat the house. Just when we thought we finally got things financially settled, I had a traumatic accident. We are now down to one income! We needed propane installed to be able to cook and heat our house. Thanks to this wonderful group, Between Friends Outreach, we can finally cook meals and heat our home. Everyone involved was extremely wonderful! - Client

I was not from Pennsylvania; I was a stay at home mother and hadn’t worked in five months due to the birth of my youngest son. The next thing I know, I’m about to be evicted because my boyfriend and I split-up and he’d taken the baby. I had no money, no job, and absolutely nobody. My nearest family members were an hour and a half away. One day, I was in the public library using their Wi-Fi to research resources and I overheard a woman discussing “housing” to someone on the phone. As I finished up yet another online job application, I got up the nerve to approach the woman and asked her if she could help me. After I told her about my situation, the first thing she did was give me a huge hug. It felt so good to have somebody hug me, even if it was a stranger. She immediately started writing down resources for me. She then said she had to text the director about me. When I left the library I had received a phone call from the director, Tara. Since then, Tara has been working around the clock making calls and sending emails. From the moment I spoke with her on the phone, I felt the courage that I can do this. In a short time, I filed for custody, got my old job back, have been contacting many people, and have done everything Tara has asked of me. I’m still going and am hitting each goal on my list. I’m very thankful I was connected with Tara. If it hadn’t been for her helping me, I would still be at square one facing homelessness.
